Miriam Gordian Kenney advocated for the Veteran patients to receive adequate
medical care while working in the Veterans Affairs’ Hospital in New York City.
One dramatic example of her advocacy is she witnessed a “Nurse” attempting to do
a “Saline Flush” in an IV in a patient, using a common contaminated household
key. Upon witnessing this grossly unauthorized act, Miriam instantly realized this
individual was not a nurse. Additional incidences confirmed that the patients were
dealing with a “Nursing Imposter.” Indeed, it was later revealed that this
individual, and an additional individual, were Nursing Imposters who had used
fraudulent credentials to obtain their nursing positions. As a result of her excellent
advocacy for the veteran patients, and the excellent care Miriam administered to
her assigned patients, Miriam, was awarded a Congressional House of
Representatives “MILITARY CITATION” presented by the Honorable Chairman
Charles Bernard Rangle.
